THE HOURGLASS

THE HOURGLASS

Other day I purchased one hourglass a scarce commodity now

Looks simple antique vintage designed calls on for attraction

Made of brass superannuated letters engraved also says London 1885

Glass blocks sand known for transparency

It has been my latest play; sand falls down inverted starts again

Sand particles minute, every drop depicts gravity, heaps of sand change shape

Fascination for device watcher’s time stands still in enchantment

Flow smooth though, time runs out particles reveal fraction of seconds

With it during play stunned to know life moves so fast

Ordinarily in life‘s tenure its obscure, OMG! Time flies such speed

Amazing! Sand being pulled down concludes one time measure! Humans being pulled by sensual pleasures complete one cycle of life

Many such products or things inspire us to correct life in realization of blissful state

Ancient timing tool likewise has many things to tell and teach – THE HOURGLASS

The hour glass certainly shows how time and our life passes so quickly.

Its beautiful Shiva and really a rare commodity this days…i wonder why?…maybe it has to do with the current trend in technology now…i remember using an hour glass back then to play scrabble now, we simply put on our phone’s timer and the game is good to go.

I belong to the older generation, where as a child I was always fascinated by The Hour Glass… watching the sand slowly drop down the glass, made my time stand still… yet still to these days it hasn’t changed my fascination, it is something so simple. I often get Hour Glasses as a little birthday gift to children.

Hello Cornelia your comment made me inspire to write and add one or two more lines to the poem.
When the sand drops to measure the time it makes your time stand still is simply fascinating.
      Thanks for this Wonderful comment.
I shall let you know in a while of the addition.

It seems California is a very Beautiful place to live and have heard that living there is very costly.
Blessed are You Cornelia to have been living in such a place. People in US do not realise of how affluent they are when considered to other peoples. You know what I am trying to tell as You have visited several countries.
                  Here goes the saying:
                  BLESSED ARE THOSE.

Shiva, indeed California is a beautiful place to live and yes it is very expensive, I usually work two different jobs a day, just to cover living costs and I live a very simple life. I do know that we in the USA are considered to be affluent, but I have to say, that there are areas I have seen which are below poverty circumstances and we have, lots of those, we have a very high number of homeless people, just driving along the freeway, people sleep under bridges and I bushes and so on. The US is at times not portrayed in what the reality is, unfortunately its always shown as the richest country, but that portray is just false, once you look closer into people living conditions, the outside , other countries don’t see that side, because it is not published. When I travel it’s based on a very low budget and I am totally happy with that, because I see more of a country like for example India , than a usual tourist does. By the way I have been only once in India, State Rajasthan and cities Hardiwar and Ahemadabad. Have a great day.

Cornelia you do two jobs during the day at this age calls for admiration. I am inspired. Living a simple life pays during the long run. A penny saved is earned goes the saying.
Here beggars numbers has drastically come down compared what we used to see as children. People are getting some thing to do for an earning. You can now find them only in front of temples.
Affluence has also increased here. But be it America or India one should realise their affluence, that makes them good citizens, that is what I feel, won’t you think so.
Once again I invite you to visit India and be my guest for a while.
                    Thanks

Thank you Shiva for your great response, no admiration necessary, but thank you. Also thank you for your kind invite. One thing I wanted to add , why I love Indian people, they are amazing entrepreneurs , each corner each street I would see somebody having a little business going on, may it be even on the ground of a walk way. And that’s how I agree with you that they are good and even wonderful citizens. Here the amount of beggars has rapidly increased. I am happy to hear that the number has come down in India. As always “Minds together”

Cornelia, Yes I thought as much as I used to get your comments when I just start my day and You would make my days. I am thankful to You always for that.
Yes I know of your visits to India and your love for my country. To tell you frankly here except with the culture that we belong to things have deteriorated so much, there has been a lot of hateredness among people. Corruption is rampant and political state has gone to dogs. OMG! I just hate these politicians, they are ready to do any sort of time permits.
Now, I live in the southern state of India called as Karnataka and that too in the North of the state. Hampi and Badami the historical places where you might have visited are just in 100 KMS radius of my place called Gadag which is a town.
I have not visited any foreign country. Things went on postponing.
But for the US I have lot of respects. The visit is pending since long.

Shiva, thank you. I have heard a lot about the deteriation and the political in your country and each time my heart crunches. I just looked up, the state you live in, beautiful from what I read Karnataka,…. Hampi seems to be a beautiful city, so Bangalore isn’t too far from you. The palace of Mysore seems to be such a beautiful treasure.
You know our government since 3 years is the worst that ever happened to this country. “Minds together” from Cornelia

Yes my place being in the North Central part of the state is nearby to many places that you can visit. Bangalore is 430 kms. I give you a standing invitation to visit my place whenever you want, I shall arrange a trip for you to the visits along with my family.

Yes the old tech is very amazing. In the sands of time the technology gets drowned so deep sometimes even the new tech will not be able to bring it to work.
Just Imagine the Pyramids of Egypt how they have taken up those huge granite stones to that level and kept them in order meticulously.
          Wonderful!
