JUST A SCREEN

Life Scenes Seen On Screen

Temporary Waves Of Life

Birth Death Just A Screen

In this Haiku I would like to throw light upon the life scenes one sees from birth till death. They are temporary and they are displayed before us like just on a screen.

Let us now contemplate on Life as the subject is sensitive in nature and to be pondered. Just let us think of the people who have lived and gone on this planet since ancient times. In all their lives they have seen all types of scenes may be they might have enjoyed them or suffered seeing to them. At the time of the view everything seems to look so true and real to everyone.

Howmuchsoever we love the food we eat, while eating we are so much engrossed in it, but we do not remember what we ate during the last week. The same case with anything we love or hate. We are involved so much, that this life itself is as if a permanent affair. As life passes by we tend to forget the scenes in which we had totally put ourselves into it. So what about those scenes which had come across and gone which we thought were so precious or were worth to discard.

Let us take the example of a movie that we see on the screen of a movie theatre. The scenes come and go, the movie ends; we enjoy, get involved in the movie and come out.

So also, Life from Birth till Death shows us continuously scene after scene as if everything was real.

The great scriptures too proclaim that life is like the screen; it provides those scenes for us to see in between Birth and Death. I would not want to mention about these lines found in the scriptures or in which books they are. It is again a very elaborate subject.

If you would want to know you can refer any of the Great Spiritual Doctrines of the East or West (Granthas – it means books of the spiritual doctrines in the language of Sanskrit)

You may not necessarily look to the doctrines but just have a thought put it to test. In one corner of your heart or mind you shall feel it is so.

Coming to the subject;  Life scenes seen like on a screen are temporary waves of life from birth till death are just like on a screen.

Thank you Shiva. As always you give profound views on life. For me, life is a collection of experiences that imprint on the person that I am, each experience changing me in a small but very significant way. I do not want to see life only as if on a screen to be witnessed. I want my senses to envelope it, to become part of it and therefore make my impact on others and the world. You are however correct when you say it is temporary. This is sad as there is so much that needs to be remedied. Mankind has made a mess of our planet. I will be posting a poem inspired by this thought using the following prompt line:

    If I had magic I’d……

I am by no means a poet, but poetry is an experience that I’ve not explored to any great depth. So since I am ‘temporary’ I must see if I can master some words to effect those who I am close to and perhaps others who may cross my path.

All the best to you and continue with your “ponderings”.

      Marianne!
I am impressed by your thought, more so that you are inspired and you would like to write something on those lines.
Yes! It is for us to imprint in between Birth and Death and that shall be the most beautiful thing one can do. Go ahead My Dear! that shall mark you as you once existed on this planet.
      All the best to YOU.

So if our life is on the screen and we are watching it and it may or may not be real…would you want to see the ending now if you could or wait and let life play itself out? And if you did see the ending now, could you change it if you wanted to? It is true that what we thought was so important to us at one time later may become not important at all. Life is constantly evolving, changing, growing, diverting but that’s good, otherwise it would be mundane and boring. We certainly should take life much less seriously than we do and enjoy it more and laugh more!! Yes there is a lot to ponder Shiva! As usual you know how to dive into a subject and really dissect each and every part of it!

      Deb!
No! No! No! It should not be taken or interpreted that way. What the thought means is, the life scenes that we come across are temporary in nature and they come and go. How can you see the end or change it.
I also mean the same from where you tell that – Life is constantly evolving, changing………. Laugh more!!

These scenes of life are they real or unreal are another subject to be discussed and it is an elaborate subject to be dealt separately. In any case one has to think and ponder for it in ones own mind. Maybe they have to take help of the profound books or from a knowledgeable person. Some may seem to be controversies too.

Yes! Life has to be taken not less but with no seriousness at all. It says these scenes are to be watched like a witness or a spectator. It shall now go into the deeper aspects of understanding the soul.
Self-Realization is all about that. Once one knows and experiences of this knowledge and practices it; nothing like that, it shall be total bliss. Not that it is difficult to attain or easy to experience. If that was so, we would find enlightened souls in every corner of this world. Soon the world would be a place of enlightened people. It requires the blessings of the Lord and a Guru who can show the right path.

Went through Your post and the Interesting photos, my Dear Shiva!

It is True that We cannot remember the taste what We Ate. But IF THE STOMACH HAS BEEN EMPTY, particularly for DAYS, then We Can Not forget that.

Prolonged Torture, Being Chased out of Land and Home, [ This has RECENTY happened in Mathura(?), For the Christians in KANDHAMAL, and for the KASHMIR PANDITS, ]… Can these things be forgotten too?

The whole Palestinian problem is based on this.

    It is Easy to Talk.

politicians, judges, the police and the officials of Our Country do NOT know the meaning of Hunger, Rape or Suffering. That is Why they cannot do what is Needed.

In the Same way, God Experience has to be based on Real Life Realities.

    Regards.

A point well made Sir. Harsh realities in life cannot be forgotten. But if we distance ouselves from it, by experiencing that our body has been harmed… Not the infinite soul… We can make our tragedies bearable. This experience comes with practice even to average people. I must say that the discussion going on here is on a high plane😀

Oh, this is a Never Ending subject.

But at least I have established that the word Remember and Forget, etc, cannot be used in these contexts.

Next, people have to Realize that What happens to the Body Definitely affects the Mind, which is why We have the word Psychosomatic diseases.

Going even further, What happens to the Body even affects the Spirit! That is Why We have Hate Crimes!

But you are wise enough to tell me that these discussions are on a high plane; as if I am on the lower one. Thanks.

My Dear Shivangi, Thank You VERY much for getting back to me. Very kind and Sweet of You.

Though a Christian, I know the philosophy of the Advaita, and do not agree with it.

As I had pointed out in my very first comment, there are people who suffer their whole life, and Terribly too. Like those who are Really Innocent being in Jails for 20 years and more, in Concentration camps, (I hope You know what this is), People DYING of Hunger, and what not.

Oh, I have already given enough answers.

To continue, this talk is all very nice for those who do not know the meaning of PROLONGED Hunger or Suffering.

            Just think about all this!

And I am Sorry for having been Harsh with You. Please accept my Apologies.

            Love and Blessings. 🙂

              Swamiji!
I Welcome your thoughts and the explanation you have been giving.
Like your concern for the happenings in this world it means that you are actually seeing this from a distance and not are actually the victim like those. It does not mean that who wants to express their thoughts have to be victims either. What is the point in having discussions and talks; so everything has to be abruptly stopped?
“Advaita” has often been misinterpreted and misunderstood. It covers all thoughts and all religions. It does not mention of any particular religion and is not limited to any region also. The Greatest Philosophy man has ever found. What you are talking and feeling is Advaita. Your concern depicts you are a man of Advaita understanding. It is nothing but the expansion of the self, you share feelings of those people who are in Hunger and Jail and put out of home is itself a witness that your self has been expanded. You as a being is the universal soul and in you shall come all, even those of whom you are talking about and those who are outside of it.
Jesus is a Man of Advaita understanding. All his deeds and talks proclaim that. His concern for poor and downtrodden, his forgiveness everything; does that not show that he was an Universal Soul. The goal of Advaita is that.
Please do not mistake me as you are more learned. Having to use that word Advaita may cause some controversy, we use it or not but the fact remains the same, as all Great souls (I need not mention the names; I shall just say the Saints, Sufis, Sages, Vrushis ) had the same thoughts and have stepped into the same path. It is we who have given them the label.
              This much I can say.
              My Regards and Respects,
              Shiva

I was just thinking yesterday about how we float through life instead of getting involved and making it into an intense one.. just like you said movies start and come to an end, it’s up to us to give it a shape… But in the end we accept that not everything is within our control, anything may happen any moment, leaving us to wonder what we have done till now and how much is enough… Illusion of control is shattered everyday in our life, still we keep persisting.

Wonderful as ever Shiva, the Haiku is awesome.

I am happy that the discussions have caught fire and they should be like this. Otherwise they shall not be interesting.

The subject needs understanding and I do not say that here it has not been understood either. While expressing one’s opinion it may differ. But only thing is the discussion should not go out of the subject and catch up to individual self pride.

I think many a times why on earth did God allow creating so many religions. Enough Hell has been created here which has made us think that another one in the sky is not required. In the name of religion controversies have raised and have lead to even wars till date. But again the thought comes if He had not to allow to have so many as they are now, what would have happened to our individual capacity to think and form thoughts. So this process shall continue.

One has to seek the TRUTH. It has been found since ancient times. Again here it depends on individual thinking as to how to receive it. The most important thing is one has to be FREE to do so.

I hold everyone here with Great Esteem who are profound thinkers and writers and are capable of expressing their thoughts into beautiful words.

Thanks to ALL. I welcome more thoughts to come forth.
    My Fondest Regards,
    Shiva

      Hello, Shiva!

      1. GOD did not create religions. I have written extensively on the subject, and for the first post post: http://wp.me/p4e7b5-p8

      2. Is there hell (wherever that is!)? Is it necessary? What is supposed to happen to people who gang rape, throw acid, and to our dear politicians/judges and police, who throw Us on the ground and trample Us? 🙂

      3. Your words, which becomes a Long quote, namely:

‘But again the thought comes if He had not to allow to have so many as they are now, what would have happened to our individual capacity to think and form thoughts. So this process shall continue.

One has to seek the TRUTH. It has been found since ancient times. Again here it depends on individual thinking as to how to receive it. The most important thing is one has to be FREE to do so. ‘

…Show that if there is No Freedom of Thought and Action, there is No human being. A Dog will Always choose meat, but the human being might decide otherwise.
