Shower Happiness

Potted Plant Flowers

Child Brought Up Flying Colours

Shower Happiness

While writing this Haiku the following thoughts came into my mind, if you can give time to read, it I think you shall understand it fully.

I have got so many potted plants in my house garden and my wife keeps updating them. It is such a thing, you have to keep updating them to make the plants live healthily. Almost on a daily basis your eyes and hands have to work on them. Seeing to their growth; watering, cutting, dressing, plucking and re-potting them at intervals. Patience and Energy required.

Its almost like bringing up a child. At home we feel so, and accordingly take care. When these plants grow and show up you feel so happy. The pots were actually five hundred in number, now I think they have reduced to around three hundred odd, as several pots broke. So, I keep saying I have another hundreds of children to take care.

We, the other day re-potted our plants, within a few days the Jasmine plant grew so well and has given such beautiful flowers which you are seeing in the picture. It is just beside my bed near the window, it gives the Jasmine fragrance. I was surprised to see the flower petals; I counted the petals they are from 18 to almost 27 in number in one flower. Usually they do not give so many petals as I have seen so many Jasmine plants.

These Jasmine flowers are used for our Pooja to offer to the Gods and as you know women in India use them to decorate their hair dress.

It’s the same case with children. A child when born we take such a lot of care to up bring it, I need not give any details about it as everyone does it. After they grow to be young adults and show up and come out with flying colours one feels so happy about their achievements. The efforts and love given to them has come in return, don’t we feel so as parents. Otherwise what we expect from our children. We as parents do not expect them to bring money for us isn’t? The laurels, the love and the achievements they bring are sufficient.

I am happy to tell you that I have two daughters, the elder one is a Software Engineer and is now working in a MNC, and the younger one shall become a Doctor as she has joined medicine.

Enough for now, if this post shall bring and give something to all readers I am done with it.

Thanks so Much for your visit, likes and comments.

Hi Shiva, Thank you for another lovely post. Jasmine scent is one of my special memories of India and the beautiful garlands for pooja. Your plants are so lucky to have found such a great home. Please give my regards to your lovely wife.

Your lovely comment is as fragrant as Jasmine. Your memories of India shall hold esteem to me too, since you know the rituals here. I should say both the plants and we are lucky.
I shall pass your regards to my wife who is the one that cares.

Thank you for sharing your love of plants. My husband and I plant several outdoor gardens. We grow everything organically, both vegetables and flowers. God knows there is enough toxicity in the world. We refuse to use chemical fertilizers and pesticides and our plants flourish without those poisons. In a way, our gardens are a metaphor for our life. We’ve grown a wonderful family, two amazing daughters who have honourable and hard working husbands. They’ve given us three grandsons.
You remind me that it doesn’t matter where we live, you in India, and us in Canada. We all share the same values, love of family, and faith.
Thank you for inviting me to visit.

      Marianne!
This is great, you and your husband also love plants and both develop outdoor gardens. The most important thing is you do it organically. You grow vegetables and flowers organically; this message has to spread all over the world. Even in India some people have taken to it and have been successful. I think it requires a lot of patience and devotion to do it. The old method of farming using natural manure has to be adopted. Organically grown products look so fresh and healthy. Here several fields have spoil’t for having used the chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
I was very happy to read that you also have two daughters and they are married to honourable and hard working husbands. I should say, you and your daughters are fortunate to have such son-in-laws and husbands respectively.
Oh! you have three grand sons, so sweet, I love kids. The other day I was telling my daughter, I am wanting to have grandchildren. We are finding a suitable match for the elder one. Let us see what God has in store for us.
I loved to read your comment. Please be visiting and do inform when you write and post as these days I am not able to get notifications of posts of so many blogger friends who are on my follow, I mean on my mail.
      Thanks again.

      Shivangi!
Before my marriage I knew nothing of gardening though there was a garden at my old home. When we moved some time after my marriage to an independent bungalow the fever was transmitted from my wife, I think it is contagious, so beware.
OMG! she loves doing it and I should say it has paid.
It is like this, every morning you tend to see how much the plant has grown and it tells us; yes, see I have grown so much and that feeling is great.
      Thanks

I really like seeing the rows of pots with lovely flowering plants. You are so true in how much care a child needs, more than plants but your time will pay off in love and appreciation from children. In plants your attention and time will also display their gratitude in flowers like the beautiful jasmine. I was blessed with your special essay, Shiva. Tell your wife I admire her patience with the flowers and plants, too.

She is very particular of every thing. The shape of the pots.Colours to the pots. The green plastic bowls kept below. The soil. Their placement etc.
I have to just obey her orders.
As you have said children also give the same happiness when it is time for them to show gratitude.
I had to get up very early today as I had to travel. That is the reason I am able to reply you during this travel. Actually where are you from since I have got your this comment few minutes back.

Wow you have 500 plants? or maybe 300? How long does it take you to water them all? Do you have any herbs that you use for cooking? Those Jasmine plants are amazing!! Boy you and your wife have quite the green thumbs! I have a four indoor plants and now four outdoor plants. My thumb is not so green but I try..I love plants, whether they be flowering plants or not! You must be very proud of your daughters too!! Both quite accomplished…seems to me that you and your wife raise both plants and children extremely well, something to be proud of!!

You always hold to the crux and ask. Yes we do have few herbs which we use for cooking. Green thumb means I could catch it but not fully. You mean we are lovers of plants?

In regard to the watering part I shall explain you later sometime when I have the time, since it takes a long time. When I do it, keep your both hands free as one shall require to put your palm on the forehead and another to your stomach as you will be astonished ( for the forehead) and laugh to the core ( for the stomach) .

I have edited this post and put the pictures of my dogs you can see as they have also showered happiness. So you can now add – raise plants, children and dogs. Ha Ha Ha.

I am a bit busy, shall visit your blog later.

I am not that lucky with plants…I over water them or under water them…but I just don’t have a lot of luck with indoor plants especially…

Haiku and Senryu are my favourite forms of poetry – they are able to deliver a complete story when composed by a skilful writer -you have done so here. Your accompanying photos of you home and your dogs have touched me as I also have a dog and I live in a small house with plenty of potted plants. Our only son is a grown man now – finished university as a Musician and he continues to ‘shower happiness’ 🙂

Your love for your family, educating your daughters, taking in the street dogs and your comparison of pot plants and children … all delightful. I often compare parenting to gardening, in that children like plants need boundaries – pots and discipline give them that.
